Thomas Partey charged with two further rape counts linked to new complainant

Footballer Thomas Partey has been charged with two new counts of rape, linked to an additional woman who reported allegations to police in August last year.

The 32-year-old will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 13 March. The latest charges relate to alleged offences dating from 2020.

New allegations add to existing case

Partey was charged in July with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. Those alleged offences are said to have taken place in 2021 and 2022, during his time as an Arsenal player.

In September, he pleaded not guilty to all those charges at Southwark Crown Court. A trial date was set for 2 November 2026.

What happens next in court

The new charges were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service. Partey is now due to face the additional counts in March, before the wider case proceeds toward the 2026 trial.

In UK criminal proceedings, charges are allegations that must be proved in court. Defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Partey denies all allegations

Partey’s lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, said he continues to deny all charges and has cooperated with police throughout. She said there would be no further comment while legal proceedings are ongoing.

Bail conditions remain in place

Partey has been granted bail under conditions linked to the earlier charges. These include not contacting any of the alleged victims and informing police about any permanent change of address or international travel.

Club and international career continues

Partey left Arsenal when his contract expired and signed for Spanish club Villarreal in August. He has played regularly this season and has continued to appear for Ghana, including in a World Cup qualifier in October 2025.

The case is now expanding, with an additional complainant and new charges added. Partey is due in court on 13 March, while the main trial remains scheduled for November 2026.
